Fed: Pink and husband Carey Hart hold free motocross shows in Oz
By Alyssa Braithwaite, National Entertainment Writer
SYDNEY, April 29 AAP - Pink's husband Carey Hart will hold a series of free motocross
events around her upcoming Funhouse tour, as the couple rebuild their relationship in
Australia.
Based on his tattoo shop and clothing brand, the Hart and Huntington Freestyle Tour
will be a celebration of motocross and the associated art, fashion, music, bikes, cars
and culture.
The three-hour events will be held ahead of selected shows on Pink's 42-date Australian
tour, in Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast.
Hart, a freestyle motocross (FMX) star, came up with the idea of putting on and starring
in the free shows as a way to give something back to Australian fans.
"It is tough for people out there nowadays to go spend a lot of money on a ticket to
go to a tour or music festival," Hart told AAP from Las Vegas.
"Australia is very good to Pink and that's why it was so exciting for me.
"If we're going to do something free and give back to people, it's in Australia."
Pink and Hart met in Las Vegas at the 2001 X Games and married in 2006.
In February 2008 the star couple announced they had separated, but they have recently
started seeing each other again.
Hart said the Australian tour was a chance to spend some quality time together.
"We're definitely working on our relationship," he said.
"This was actually one of the first steps. We had to come up with a way to be able
to both go to work and both see each other.
"It's going to be a very exciting time for both of us to actually go to Australia and
tour together for two months."
Hart set up the Hart and Huntington brand five years ago with his first tattoo shop
at Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel.
He now owns four successful shops and has branched into a Hart and Huntington clothing line.
The brand is now available in Australia, and Hart is now considering setting up shop Down Under.
"We're branching out and we might possibly do some in Europe, but the top of my list
is to do one in Australia," he said.
"The fan base is so amazing in Australia for action sports and tattooing alike, it
just seems like the next progression for what I want to do."
Hart said he hoped to convert some of Pink's fans into motocross fans on the tour,
and is looking forward to hitting the surf and the open road with Pink during their time
off.
"Me and Pink are talking about maybe doing a couple of motorcycle road trips, jump
on some highways and rip around the countryside," he said.
