SA: Burns this week in the Adelaide Hills
ADELAIDE, April 10 AAP - Parts of the Adelaide Hills will be set on fire this week
in a bid to reduce the fuel load.
The first burn today will involve 31 hectares of the Black Hill Conservation Park.
Mid-way through the week a 14-hectare burn will target the Cleland Conservation Park.
Allan Holmes, from the Department of Environment and Heritage, said the autumn burns
picked up where work left off before the fire season in December.
"Nine burns in a range of parks and reserves are planned for the Adelaide Hills this
season," he said.
"All of our burns share the same objective and that is to develop a strategic network
of fuel reduced areas across the hills."
Areas of reduced fuel load increase the chance of firefighters bringing bushfires under
control and also provide safer conditions for fire crews.
