SYDNEY, Dec 26 AAP - Quotes of the week:
"At the end of the day, political leaders and agency heads must accept responsibility
for errors that occurred on their watch. But we (the Rudd government) have full confidence
in all agency heads." - Federal Attorney General Robert McClelland says his government
won't sack any department heads, despite the findings of the Clarke inquiry.
"I'm very pleased, it is a very clear finding that I am totally innocent of the matters
alleged against me last year." - Mohamed Haneef, after the Clarke Inquiry cleared him
of all wrongdoing.
"He's entitled to damages for the loss of reputation, he's entitled to damages for
the damage to his career and he's entitled to damages for the dislocation he has suffered."
Bernard Murphy, Mohamed Haneef's lawyer, says that his client is entitled to compensation
following the findings of the Clarke inquiry.
